Behind the Scenes Video, put together by the good people at CumminsRoss. It shows the fun times on the Nestle Soleil shoot down in Melbourne. All our shoots are exactly like this, by the way. More like a party in motion than a job.
It was, in reality, a great couple of days. A fantastic team. Really, the worst part was the interview for this thing.

Director Leigh Richards recently completed work on a PSA for the Black Dog Institute. The Black Dog Institute is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping people cope with depression and mood disorders. It runs various programmes and initiatives, including a yearly “Exercise Your Mood Week”, encouraging people to combat depression through regular physical exercise. Through generous support from Jungleboys EP Jason Burrows and the donated services of key crew and talent, the Black Dog Institute “Exercise Your Mood” PSA became a reality.
The shoot took place in Maroubra in early July, produced on next to nothing by Sarah Harris. Among those who generously donated their time and talent to the project were Michael Clumes Marden Dean, Chris Bland, Joe Brunetto, Maren Smith and Sean Corcoran. The wonderful black dogs featured in the spot were Bear (courtesy of the Kedar Family), Loretta (Dan Miau) and Guide Puppy-in-training Finn (Alexandria Bulgin). Post was handled in-house at Jungleboys by editor Greta Jackson and designer Melissa Pragassen. Grade provided by Emerald City Design. Music composed by Ryan Grogan and voice over by the extraordinary Brendan Cowell.
The aim of this spot was to illustrate the idea that physical exercise can help to elevate mood and lessen the effects of depression. It was a great opportunity to pursue a creative idea in the service of an organisation that does so much to help give people a peace of mind. ‘Lose Your Licence and You’re Screwed’ is a new campaign for the Motor Accidents Commission targeted at youth drivers. Directed by Al Morrow, this campaign promises social death if you loose your license and freedoms – much more impactful to teens than physical death…Mum picking you up from training, making out in the presence of a taxi driver and doubling your mate on a tandem seem to be the best the alternatives to driving.
Shot in and around Adelaide, the ash cloud, rain and cyclonic winds did not defeat the production. And the result is a funny snap shot of everyday life with embarrassing outcomes. Although it wasn’t all work. Some vineyard tours were also on the agenda of course.

Shot and directed by Jungleboys comedy director Craig Melville and produced by David Curry, The Bedroom Philosopher’s “So Hungover” has now won Best Music Video at the Australian Director’s Guild Awards, The American International Film Festival, The Los Angeles Cinema Festival, and The California International Film Festival. It has also got over 250,000 hits on YouTube. The fact that it takes the piss out of hipsters and includes some cameos certainly helps. Melville joined Jungleboys in late 2010 and has probably directed more tv comedy than anyone else in recent years. There aren’t many directors who can say they’ve crucified John Safran, were part of the team who infiltrated the $200 million dollar security at APEC, filmed Voodoo ceremonies in Togo, were chased by machine gun wielding bandits in Haiti, pranked Palestinian terrorists, were arrested for sending a smoking seagull to Shane Warne during an MCG cricket match and put an Islamic death sentence Fatwa on Rove.

Completely different to Lawrence’s first series which Craig also directed, this is Mythbusters meets Ghostbusters as Lawrence embarks on a mind-bending quest to examine the irrational and the impossible. With his curious not so scientific research and real-life experiments, Lawrence Leung’s Unbelievable pokes fun at our own misconceptions and tests the limits of our beliefs. It’s a six-part search for truth that you will have to see to believe. In this first episode, Lawrence sets out to discover if psychic powers exist. Lawrence encounters Australia’s best psychic, an American who can drive a car blindfolded, and ultimately transforms himself into a psychic to try to win a million dollars.
